What it is

Concord was an online 5-versus-5 first-person hero shooter set in a science-fiction galaxy of humans and aliens, where teams of mercenaries called Freegunners battled in objective-based match modes such as team deathmatch, control points, and cargo retrieval. Each character had distinct powers like high jumps or damage-absorbing skin. The core activity is stylized gunfire between the player-controlled characters; defeated fighters go down without blood, gore, or dismemberment, and combat is against sci-fi mercenaries rather than realistic settings. Because it was a competitive online game, matches connected players with strangers and supported voice and text chat. The game briefly launched in August 2024 and its servers were shut down about two weeks later, with copies refunded.

How it's framed

The game frames its combat as competitive sport between rival mercenary teams, presenting the fighting as arena-style PvP rather than depicting real-world consequences or suffering; the tone is lighthearted and character-driven, with banter and personality emphasized over grim or graphic content.
