What it is

This is a solo action-adventure title, following on from an earlier entry, where players take the role of a delivery worker named Sam. Set mostly across a wrecked, open version of Australia, the journey involves hauling packages over the terrain and linking scattered pockets of survivors into a wireless communication grid. A large share of playtime centers on deliberate movement across hazardous ground, plotting paths, and constructing vehicles and structures, with these stretches broken up by fights against hostile human bandits and unsettling paranormal beings. Bloodshed is rendered in a grounded, lifelike manner, though the design leans on stealth and gear meant to subdue rather than kill. Dialogue contains heavy swearing, there is short and non-graphic nudity, characters make limited use of alcohol and caffeinated drinks, and weighty themes of mortality, mourning, and the wiping out of humanity run throughout. Ghost-like foes and nerve-wracking pursuit moments lend certain portions a mood bordering on horror. A background online system lets players view and endorse the buildings others have placed, yet no live text, spoken, or written contact with other people occurs.

How it's framed

Fighting is presented as something turned to only when nothing else works; the design keeps nudging players back toward linking people together, completing deliveries, and disabling foes without killing, while taking a life produces repercussions within the story world. The bleaker themes of dying, bereavement, and the possibility of humanity's end are handled as mournful, feeling-driven narrative about sorrow and the ties between people, not as thrill or a form of payoff.
