What it is

In Endless Ocean Luminous, a calm scuba-diving title, the player controls a diver who swims through an invented stretch of sea and builds a record of more than 500 kinds of marine life, a roster that reaches to legendary and long-vanished animals such as the Mosasaurus. Time is spent quietly gliding, uncovering new sights, and logging the fish and other creatures encountered, with the occasional visit to sunken temples and wrecked ships. Fighting is absent; animals are watched and entered into a log instead of being pursued as prey. Group dives online hold as many as 30 divers who trade what they have found and interact through a fixed set of emotes alone, with no typed or spoken chat, nothing players can build themselves, and no purchases made inside the app.

How it's framed

Within the title, the sea is presented as a place to watch, study, and take in, not a place to battle or use up. The mood stays quiet and instructional, with logging marine life set up as the main thing a player does, and none of it involves conflict, danger, or adult themes.
