What it is

Homefront is a first-person military shooter set in a near-future United States occupied by a Korean army after an economic collapse and an EMP attack. You play a member of a small resistance cell, moving through ruined suburbs and cities in scripted combat missions—firefights, stealth segments, and large vehicle battles alongside AI fighters. The gunplay is realistic and bloody: enemies are shot and blown apart by explosions, and the environments are dressed with dead bodies, graves, and signs of atrocities committed against civilians to underline the brutality of the occupation. Dialogue carries frequent strong profanity. There is no sexual content, nudity, or drug use of note. A large-scale online multiplayer mode shipped with the game, though its official servers were shut down and only limited third-party play remains.

How it's framed

The game frames its violence through a patriotic resistance-versus-occupier lens, presenting the player's killing as justified defense of a homeland while dwelling on the occupier's cruelty—executions, mass graves, and abused civilians—to build sympathy and outrage rather than to celebrate gore.
