What it is

Monster Hunter: World is an action role-playing game where you play a hunter tracking and battling giant fictional monsters across natural environments. Combat is the heart of the game: you pick from many weapon types and take on beasts solo or in online co-op, then carve materials from fallen creatures to craft stronger gear. Hits land with brief blood effects but there is no gore, dismemberment, or violence against people, and the tone is adventurous rather than grim. Some monster lairs and predators are mildly menacing, and a few optional armor designs are revealing, but there is essentially no sexual content, profanity, substances, or dark subject matter.

How it's framed

The game frames hunting as heroic ecological work — studying an ecosystem, taking on threatening beasts, and using every part of the catch — and rewards players with materials and rank for successful hunts; the creatures fought are fantastical monsters rather than real animals.
