What it is

People Playground is a single-player physics sandbox in which the player uses a large toolbox of weapons and hazards to shoot, stab, burn, electrocute, poison, crush, tear apart, or vaporise humanoid ragdolls in an open space. The dominant content is extreme but cartoonish gore: blood, breaking bones, spilling organs, dismemberment, and machines like shredders that the player builds to destroy the figures. The humanoid targets do not look like real people and make no sound or expression, but the act of destroying and dismembering them is the point of the game. There is no story, score, or objective. It has no in-app purchases and no in-game chat or multiplayer, but it does support downloadable community mods through Steam Workshop; several player reviews warn that some Workshop uploads have distributed malware to players' computers.

How it's framed

The game frames its content as detached physics experimentation rather than realistic harm: there is no narrative, no reward, no scoring, and the humanoid figures are stylized, emotionless, and silent. Destruction is presented as open-ended sandbox tinkering, though the underlying activity is deliberately inflicting damage on helpless human-shaped figures.
