Stylized, bloodless turn-based creature battles; wild Pokemon can also attack and knock out the player character, who then wakes at camp.
Pokemon are framed as wild animals that the player battles, weakens, and captures as core gameplay; no blood or graphic killing.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is an open-area action role-playing game where you explore the wilderness of the Hisui region, study wild Pokemon, and try to complete a paper Pokedex by catching them all. You throw balls to capture Pokemon roaming the landscape and fight them in stylized battles that mix turn-based commands with real-time dodging; wild Pokemon can also charge and knock out your character, sending you back to camp with no blood or injury shown. Content is very mild: cartoon-style creature combat and animal-like battling are the only real intensity, with no bad language, substances, sexual content, or purchases. Online play is limited to trading Pokemon with other players, and there is no in-game voice or text chat with strangers.
The game frames battling and capturing Pokemon as scientific research and survival in a frontier wilderness, with Pokemon presented as untamed animals and forces of nature rather than pets; there is no reward for cruelty and no graphic depiction of harm.
