What it is

Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! is a Nintendo Switch remake of the classic Game Boy adventure in which the player travels the Kanto region catching creatures called Pokemon, training them, and battling rival trainers and gym leaders. Wild Pokemon are caught with a motion-controlled ball-throwing system inspired by the mobile game Pokemon Go rather than fought. The content is very mild: battles are stylized and bloodless, creatures simply faint when defeated, and there is no sexual content, strong language, substances, or frightening material. Online play is limited to trading and friendly battles with friends over a link connection, and there is no open chat with strangers.

How it's framed

The game frames its content around friendship, exploration, and collecting, presenting battles as sporting contests between trainers and their partner creatures; defeated Pokemon faint and are healed rather than harmed, and the story centers on the bond between the player and their partner Pikachu.
