Stylized sci-fi combat in which the player fires lasers and bombs at enemy spacecraft and robotic war machines; vehicles explode without blood or gore.
Star Fox is a rail shooter remake of the 1997 Nintendo 64 game, in which the player pilots the Arwing and other vehicles as Fox McCloud, leader of a mercenary squad flying through space and across planets to stop the villain Dr. Andross. Gameplay is a stylized on-rails arcade experience: you shoot down enemy ships and robotic machines with lasers and bombs and dodge incoming fire with barrel rolls and somersaults. Combat is bloodless and cartoon-like with no injury, gore, sexual content, strong language, or substances. The game includes competitive and co-op multiplayer, and supports the Switch 2's GameChat voice and video-chat feature, which can connect players during online play.
The game frames its action as a heroic sci-fi mission, with Fox and his squad presented as protectors of the Lylat System against an invading force; conflict is depicted as vehicle-to-vehicle combat against machines and enemy craft rather than anything graphic or personal.
