What it is

Assassin's Creed Syndicate is a third-person action-adventure set in 1868 London during the Industrial Revolution, where you control twin siblings Jacob and Evie Frye as they build a street gang to wrest control of the city from a shadowy ruling faction. Gameplay mixes rooftop climbing, grappling-hook traversal, stealth, and brutal hand-to-hand and weapon combat against human enemies, with blood and cinematic assassinations but no gore or dismemberment. The world includes pub brawling and alcohol, a plot about a drugged public tonic, child labor and poverty, and organized-crime violence. It is a single-player experience with optional real-money purchases of in-game currency and boosters.

How it's framed

The game frames its violence and crime as a fight to liberate an exploited working class from corrupt industrialists and a controlling secret order, casting the twin assassins as rebels against injustice; targets are presented as villains and the darker social themes as historical backdrop rather than glorified.
