This is a solo action-adventure that casts the player as War, a member of the apocalypse's Four Horsemen. Blamed for setting off the world's end ahead of schedule, he battles across a devastated Earth to prove his innocence. Gameplay blends fighting, exploration, and puzzles: War cuts down waves of demons and other creatures using an oversized blade, a scythe, and guns, stringing together attack combos and executing theatrical, bloody kills that tear foes apart. Its setting draws heavily on end-times imagery pitting Heaven against Hell, populated by angels, demons, and hellish beasts, wrapped around a grim tale of treachery and payback. It contains no sex, nudity, drug or alcohol use, or online play, and nothing can be purchased within the app.
How it's framed
War is portrayed as a betrayed avenger upholding the balance of the universe, and the fighting he does against both infernal and heavenly beings reads as heroic battle, paying out souls that fund upgrades.
