What it is

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is an action fighting game with role-playing progression set in the Dragon Ball anime universe. You create a custom fighter from one of five races and join a Time Patrol that travels through the series' storylines to correct altered events, battling famous characters in 3D arenas with punches, kicks, and colorful energy blasts. A large shared hub city lets thousands of players gather, and matches and quests can be played online with others over voice and text chat. Combat is stylized and bloodless, the tone is light despite storylines about war and characters dying in battle, and a broad catalog of paid downloadable content and an in-game medal currency add characters, skills, and items for real money.

How it's framed

The game frames its fights as heroic time-travel adventure in which the player-created patroller restores the correct history alongside familiar Dragon Ball heroes; conflict, sacrifice, and the deaths of named fighters are treated as dramatic anime action rather than as graphic or distressing material.
