What it is

Far Cry 6 is a first-person open-world action game set on the fictional Caribbean island of Yara, where the player controls guerrilla fighter Dani Rojas in an armed uprising against dictator Antón Castillo. Play centers on shooting, explosives, stealth takedowns, vehicles, and building a rebel network across a large map. It contains frequent bloody combat against human enemies, strong profanity, tobacco and alcohol woven into the story and world, a drug that drives the plot, and heavy themes of dictatorship, oppression, and executions. Wildlife can be hunted and animal companions fight beside the player. Optional in-game purchases are available, and the game supports online two-player co-op with an invited friend using voice and text chat.

How it's framed

The game frames the player's violence as a justified people's revolution against a cruel tyrant, casting rebels sympathetically and the regime as oppressors; brutality by the government is used to underscore the stakes, while the player's own guerrilla killing is treated as heroic resistance.
