What it is

Green Hell is a first-person open-world survival simulation set in the Amazon rainforest, playable solo or in small co-op. You play anthropologist Jake Higgins, who must craft tools and shelter, hunt animals, manage a realistic nutrition-and-health system, and search for his missing wife. Content includes realistic combat against a hostile jungle tribe and predators with blood, hunting of animals for food, disturbing depictions of diseases and wound care (such as placing maggots in infected wounds), psychological breakdown with hallucinations after eating hallucinogenic plants, and optional cannibalism during extreme starvation that carries negative mental effects. There are no purchases or gambling.

How it's framed

The game frames its darkest content as consequences of harsh survival rather than reward: cannibalism is possible but never required or encouraged and produces psychological penalties, hallucinogens cause dangerous disorientation, and violence against the tribe is presented as a defensive struggle in a hostile environment. The tone is grim, realistic, and centered on the physical and mental toll of surviving alone.
