What it is

HITMAN 2 is a third-person stealth game in which you play Agent 47, a professional assassin, working through six large, open sandbox locations around the world to eliminate assigned targets. The core loop is observation and planning: you scout an area, steal disguises by knocking out or hiding NPCs, and find a way to kill your mark—by gunfire, strangulation, poison, or engineered 'accidents'—then slip away unseen. Violence is realistic and central but not especially gory; there is blood on hits without dismemberment. Alcohol and poisons appear as tools, one mission revolves around a cocaine cartel, and eavesdropped dialogue contains occasional profanity. There are no in-app purchases. Online co-op and competitive modes existed at launch but their servers have since been shut down, leaving the experience effectively single-player.

How it's framed

The game frames assassination as a professional craft and a puzzle to be solved cleanly, rewarding patience, stealth, and non-detection over indiscriminate killing. Targets are generally portrayed as powerful criminals, and the tone mixes cold professionalism with dark, dry humor; the game does not moralize about the killing itself.
