Manor Lords is a medieval city-building and strategy game where you grow a small settlement into a functioning town by gathering resources, managing supply chains, farming, trading, and balancing taxes and villager satisfaction. Alongside the peaceful town management, most game modes include real-time tactical battles: you raise militias or retinues and fight bandit raids and rival lords using period-accurate troops. Content is limited to medieval-style combat with soldiers fighting and dying (light blood, no gore), the brewing and consumption of ale as a village need, hunting animals for food, and background hardships like famine and disease. There is no sexual content, no strong language, no microtransactions, and no online interaction.
How it's framed
The game frames its content through a grounded, historical lens: warfare is presented as tactical medieval combat between armed forces rather than sensationalized violence, and ale, hunting, and taxation are treated as ordinary parts of running a 14th-century domain.
