What it is

MECCHA CHAMELEON is a casual online hide-and-seek party game. Players control simple white blobby or cube characters and either hunt or hide; hiders paint and pose their characters to blend into the scenery, using color pickers, clones, and taunts, while hunters race a timer to spot everyone across maps like a mansion, sewer, and a Backrooms-style level. There is no combat, blood, sexual content, foul-language content, substances, or gambling authored into the game — it is a lighthearted spotting-and-camouflage contest for up to 24 players. The parent-relevant considerations here are almost entirely on the online layer: public matches put children in open text and voice chat with strangers, and the game supports user-generated Steam Workshop maps and freeform painting. Because players can paint their characters however they like and download community maps, user-made imagery can appear, and some Workshop maps have been reported to contain malware that can affect the computer — a technical/security issue tied to mods rather than in-game content.

How it's framed

The game frames itself as playful, comedic competition built around observation and creative camouflage, with no mature themes, violence, or reward systems authored in. Any objectionable material comes from the open-online and user-generated layer — stranger chat, freeform painting, and community-made maps — rather than from content the developers created.
