What it is

MiSide is a single-player indie horror-adventure that starts as a cute simulation about caring for an anime 'virtual girlfriend' named Mita, then pulls the player character inside the game itself. What begins as light mini-games and apartment activities turns into a metafictional psychological horror story: the player learns that a hostile version of Mita traps people and converts them into game cartridges, and must navigate the world while evading her. Content includes on-screen murder, blood, corpses, and dismemberment (including a character missing part of her body), frequent jump scares, and a persistent atmosphere of dread. There is no online play, chat, or in-app purchases.

How it's framed

The game frames its violence and body horror as the dark turn of an initially wholesome relationship, using the friendly premise to make the later killings and entrapment feel disturbing; the player is positioned as a victim trying to escape rather than as an aggressor, and the different Mita versions are written to draw sympathy rather than to celebrate the gore.
