What it is

Planet Zoo is a detailed construction and management simulation where you build and run a zoo: designing habitats, caring for realistic AI-driven animals, hiring staff, managing finances, and pursuing wildlife conservation goals. The animals behave like their real counterparts, which includes predators occasionally attacking and killing prey animals in mixed habitats, though this is shown without gore. Beyond that, the content is limited to peaceful building and management. An optional online franchise mode lets players trade animals through a shared marketplace, and a Steam Workshop lets players share custom blueprints, but the game has no in-game voice or text chat.

How it's framed

The game frames its content around education, animal welfare, and conservation, rewarding players for meeting animals' needs and for breeding and releasing endangered species. Predator-versus-prey deaths are presented as authentic wildlife behavior rather than combat spectacle, and the tone throughout is constructive and non-violent.
