What it is

Redfall is a first-person shooter in which up to four survivors fight to reclaim a Massachusetts island town overrun by vampires and the human cultists who serve them. Players pick one of four hunters with special abilities, loot and upgrade guns and gear, and battle through an open world under a permanent supernatural eclipse. Combat is gun- and stake-based against vampires and human enemies with blood effects, and the story digs into grim material — scientists who experimented on patients and family, a ritual human sacrifice behind the vampire gods, and mercy-killing a transformed victim. Dialogue carries moderate profanity, and there is no sexual content, nudity, or in-game purchasing. It can be played solo or in online co-op.

How it's framed

The game frames the player as a hunter defending trapped survivors, positioning the vampires and their cultist collaborators as clear antagonists; its darkest revelations — human experimentation and sacrifice — are presented as horrors the heroes uncover and oppose rather than as things the player carries out.
