What it is

Saving Grace is a first-person horror game in which you play a father searching for his abducted daughter, Grace, taken by hooded cultists who intend to sacrifice her to resurrect the devil. Play moves between eerie exploration for items, sword-based hack-and-slash against slow demons, and gunfights against the cult's members, ending in a marketed boss fight. Combat is bloody and the player's sword can cut off enemies' limbs. The story reaches across the past, present and future and into Hell itself, and closes on a final choice about your family. It is a short single-player game with no online play, chat, or in-app purchases.

How it's framed

The game casts the father as trying to rescue his child from an occult cult, and directs its violence at the demons and cultists standing between him and his daughter. It leans on satanic-cult and Hell imagery for dread, and both endings pose a final choice meant to make the player question their decision.
