What it is

This is a single-player detective adventure in which you play Sherlock Holmes across five self-contained cases in Victorian London, examining crime scenes for clues, interrogating suspects, and linking evidence on a deduction board to name a culprit. Between the investigation puzzles the game adds action and quick-time sequences — chases, tailing, and moments of gunfire and physical danger. The mysteries deal in murder, missing people, and grim schemes: aristocrats who hunt destitute men for sport, an expedition whose survivors believe they are cursed, and an attempt on Holmes's own life, while a personal thread follows a mysterious neighbour who works her way between Holmes and his adopted daughter. Crime scenes show blood and bodies, tobacco and drink appear in the period setting, and a few endings let the player choose whether a wrongdoer lives or dies.

How it's framed

The game frames its darkness through the lens of investigation and consequence: cruelty and murder are things Holmes uncovers and reasons about rather than spectacle for its own sake, and several cases end by handing the player a moral choice — spare a killer, deliver swift justice, or turn a culprit over to the law — without telling the player which choice is right.
