What it is

Super Meat Boy is a fast, extremely difficult precision platformer in which you guide Meat Boy, a small red cube of skinless meat, through more than 300 short, hazard-filled levels to rescue his girlfriend Bandage Girl from a villain named Dr. Fetus. The only content of note is cartoon violence: Meat Boy dies constantly on saw blades and other traps, leaving smears of bright red cartoon blood on the walls and floor, all in an exaggerated, clearly non-realistic style. There is no sexual content, nudity, bad language, substances, or gambling. The game is single-player with no online chat, though it includes a level editor and a community section for sharing player-made levels.

How it's framed

The game frames its violence as slapstick and comedic — the constant deaths and cartoon gore are played for humor and challenge rather than shock, and the flimsy story is a lighthearted rescue plot with a jokey villain. Content is stylized and never presented as realistic or serious.
