What it is

Dawn of War III belongs to the real-time strategy genre and takes place within the setting of Warhammer 40,000. A player takes control of one of three armies — the Space Marines, the Orks, or the Eldar — and directs them through sprawling clashes. The action moves quickly and with high intensity as troops trade fire, wield energy-based armaments, and clash hand-to-hand, though no blood, wounds, or severed limbs appear on screen. Its atmosphere leans bleak and dystopian, and characters now and then use light swear words. Players cannot connect with others online, communicate by voice or typed messages, or add their own creations, and nothing can be bought with real money or with any currency inside the title.

How it's framed

Its subject matter is presented from the standpoint of warfare and territorial domination, showing rival armies locked in bloody struggle within a broader storyline, and it neither praises nor passes judgment on any faction as right or wrong.
