What it is

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition is a fantasy role-playing game played from a ¾-overhead view, in which two Source Hunters investigate a murder and uncover a cult in the port town of Cyseal. Play centres on exploration, branching dialogue and turn-based party combat against humans, orcs, undead and giant creatures using swords, spears, staffs and elemental magic. Fights produce screams, impact sounds and large blood splatters, and some story locations show human corpses and dismembered limbs at the sites of a massacre. The plot deals with a cult that carries out human sacrifice, mass murder and demonic corruption of the world's magic. Taverns serve ale and wine, and the player can pickpocket and steal. It supports two-player co-op and ships with an editor for building and publishing custom adventures; there are no in-app purchases.

How it's framed

The heroes are cast as agents rooting out dangerous magic, and killing enemies is framed as heroic questing rather than dwelt upon. The story treats the cult's human sacrifice and the world's mass death as evils to be stopped, and much of the writing carries a lighthearted, comic tone alongside the darker plot.
