The player commands fleets and ground troops in war; combat is abstract ship-to-ship and system-conquest between spacecraft with no blood, wounds, or injury to characters shown.
The setting rests on war between empires, the self-destruction and extinction of the ancient Endless, and planet-destroying weapons, but these are conveyed through narrative text and high-level strategy rather than depicted graphically.
ENDLESS Space 2 is a turn-based 4X space strategy game in which you lead one of several galactic civilizations, colonizing planets, researching technology, managing internal politics, and expanding an interstellar empire across a procedurally arranged galaxy. Conflict is a core part of play: you build fleets and invade rival systems, with battles resolved as cinematic ship-to-ship exchanges of weapons fire and explosions and ground assaults handled as abstracted troop numbers, all without blood, injury, or gore. Its story dwells on heavy subject matter — the extinction of an ancient race, wars between empires, and weapons capable of destroying whole planets — but presents this through narrative text and strategic overview rather than graphic depiction. It can be played online with other people, where an in-game text chat is available.
The game frames galactic conquest, war, and empire-building as strategic decisions weighed against diplomacy, trade, and internal politics, presenting the destruction of rivals and even entire worlds as tactical outcomes rather than something dwelt on in graphic or emotional detail; different factions embody competing outlooks — militarist, pacifist, ecologist, scientist and others — without the game endorsing any one as the correct path.
