What it is

Lies of P is a single-player, third-person action role-playing game (a 'Soulslike') that reimagines the Pinocchio story in Krat, a grim Belle Époque city. You play a puppet fighting through streets overrun by malfunctioning, homicidal automatons and citizens warped by a petrification plague, using melee weapons, a mechanical arm, and upgradable gear. Combat is challenging and bloody, built around parrying, staggering, and difficult boss battles, and the world is dark and grisly, filled with corpses, grotesque enemies, and a bleak atmosphere of disease and conspiracy. A morality system periodically asks you to tell the truth or lie, and those choices shape the story and its ending. There are no microtransactions and no online multiplayer or chat.

How it's framed

The game frames its violence as survival against corrupted puppets and diseased enemies in a fallen city, and its central hook is a morality system where the player repeatedly chooses to tell the truth or lie, with those choices affecting characters' fates and the ending; the fiction explores humanity, deception, and what it means to be more than a machine.
