What it is

Metin2 is a free-to-play oriental-fantasy action MMORPG where players pick a martial-arts class (Warrior, Sura, Shaman, or Ninja) and battle monsters, dragons, and demon lords across an open world while questing and leveling up. Combat is fast hack-and-slash with weapon strikes and some blood, and players can also fight each other in open-world PvP, duels, and guild wars. Content is mostly fantasy combat with lightly ominous demon-themed enemies; female outfits and armor are sometimes revealing. It is an online game with open text chat, player trading, and whispers to strangers, so player-generated chat can be crude. It funds itself through a real-money item shop that sells convenience, cosmetic, and gameplay-boosting items, including randomized premium boxes, and some purchases confer a competitive edge.

How it's framed

The game frames the player as a heroic martial artist defending against demonic and monstrous threats, presenting combat and progression as the reward loop; PvP against one's own faction is discouraged through a visible negative-rank penalty system, while lawful monster-slaying earns positive ranks.
