What it is

Microsoft Flight Simulator is a highly realistic flight simulator that recreates the entire surface of the Earth using satellite mapping, real-time weather, and detailed aircraft models. Players learn to fly and pilot a wide range of planes from small propeller craft to airliners, taking off and landing at real-world airports, following guided tutorials, sight-seeing bush trips, and landing challenges. There is no combat, blood, foul language, or mature subject matter; when a plane crashes the game simply fades to black with no depiction of damage or injury. The main non-gameplay consideration is an optional in-game marketplace selling extra aircraft, airports, and scenery.

How it's framed

The game frames itself as an educational, aspirational recreation of real aviation, emphasizing realism, exploration, and the beauty of the planet rather than any conflict or peril; crashes are handled bloodlessly by cutting to black.
