Stylized fantasy action: you strike large beasts with swords, hammers, and bowguns, producing bursts of blood but no human targets, gore, or dismemberment.
Core gameplay is tracking, hunting, and slaying or trapping fictional wild beasts and monsters for materials and quests, a standard combat mechanic.
Occasional mild exclamations in dialogue.
Monster Hunter Rise is an action role-playing game in which you play a hunter who takes on quests to track and battle large fantastical monsters across open maps, then use the materials you carve from them to craft better weapons and armor. Combat is fast and acrobatic using a companion dog and insect-like 'wirebugs' for mobility, and it can be played solo or online in co-op with up to three other players. On-screen content is limited to stylized creature combat with some blood, mild language, and background depictions of alcohol in the village setting; there is no sexual content, and hunting monsters and beasts is the central mechanic rather than any depiction of cruelty.
The game frames the player as a village protector whose hunts serve the community, treating monster slaying as skillful sport and survival rather than malice; violence is directed at creatures, is bloodless of any gore, and is celebrated through rewards, ranks, and gear progression.
