What it is

Orcs Must Die! 2 is an action tower-defense game played from a third-person view, solo or in two-player online co-op. You defend magical Rifts from surging waves of orcs and other fantasy monsters by laying deadly traps — spike floors, swinging blades, grinders, fire and more — and finishing off enemies with melee weapons and spells. The combat is fast, over-the-top and cartoonish: enemies are impaled, burned and ground up by the hundreds, with stylized blood but a comic, exaggerated tone. Characters wear some revealing outfits, and humor runs to light crude quips. There are no purchases, gambling, or mature themes beyond the fantasy monster-slaying.

How it's framed

The game frames the endless slaughter of the Horde as heroic, comedic fun: you play a wisecracking War Mage protecting the human world, and creative, elaborate kills are openly celebrated and rewarded with points and upgrades. Violence is aimed entirely at non-human fantasy monsters and is played for laughs rather than shock.
