What it is

Ghost Recon Wildlands is an open-world tactical military shooter in which a team of special-operations soldiers is deployed to a fictionalized Bolivia to dismantle the Santa Blanca drug cartel. Played from a third-person view solo or in co-op with up to three others, it involves realistic gunfights against human enemies with blood, and its world is built around the cocaine trade, showing drug fields, labs and the cartel's violence against civilians. The script carries strong profanity and sexual themes, and there is partial nudity. Real-money microtransactions sell credits for weapons, boosters and, historically, randomised loot crates.

How it's framed

The game frames the player as a soldier working to destroy a drug cartel, presenting the cartel's cruelty and the drug trade as the enemy to be dismantled rather than glorifying it, while its missions reward stealth, tactics and completing objectives.
