What it is

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is a cinematic third-person action-adventure in which you play Nathan Drake, a retired treasure hunter pulled back into one last globe-trotting hunt for a lost pirate fortune alongside his brother and old partner. Play mixes climbing and platforming, environmental puzzle-solving, and combat, where you use pistols, rifles, explosives, stealth takedowns, and hand-to-hand fighting against armed human enemies. Gunfights show blood but no gore; characters swear regularly, drink alcohol, and smoke, and the central story revolves around theft, treasure, and betrayal. An online multiplayer mode lets up to ten players face off in competitive and cooperative matches with voice and text chat.

How it's framed

The game frames its violence as adventure-movie action against mercenaries who are hunting the same treasure, and it treats theft and treasure-hunting as the heroes' romantic profession rather than something condemned; at the same time the narrative openly questions the personal cost of obsession, lies, and greed on Nathan's marriage and family.
