What it is

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is a dark-fantasy action role-playing dungeon crawler in the mould of Diablo, played from an overhead view across a three-act story about a soldier fighting a supernatural corruption spreading across the land. Play is built around clearing procedurally generated maps of enemy hordes and collecting loot to grow in power. Combat is frequent and bloody: the player cuts down humanoid and monstrous foes with heavy blood effects, wounds and lingering corpses. The world leans on grim, macabre imagery, demonic corruption and dark-magic themes, and named characters die as the plot unfolds. The game is now single-player only; its online multiplayer was shut down after release.

How it's framed

The game frames the player as a purifier fighting to cleanse a corrupted world, casting the violence as heroic struggle against demonic decay rather than glorifying cruelty; its darkness sits in atmosphere and stakes rather than in graphic focus on suffering.
