Heroes and creeps clash in abstract, turn-based card combat rendered through static fantasy card art; injury is not depicted and there is no blood or gore.
Some female Dota 2 heroes appear in revealing or form-fitting costume art on their cards, with no exposure shown.
Artifact is a digital collectible card game from Valve set in the fantasy world of Dota 2, offered as two versions — the original Artifact Classic and a streamlined reboot, Artifact Foundry. Players build decks of hero, creep, spell, and item cards and face a single opponent across three side-by-side lanes, casting abilities and directing units to knock down towers. Fighting is shown only as stylized fantasy card art with no blood or gore, and the game contains no sexual content, profanity, or drugs. Both versions are now free with every card unlocked, so the original real-money card marketplace no longer operates. Matches are one-on-one against other people online.
The game frames its content as abstract strategy: fantasy heroes and creatures clash on a board, and defeat means a card leaving play rather than any depicted injury. It takes no moral stance on its combat. Since Valve ended development and removed the paid card economy, the earlier pay-to-acquire model is no longer part of play.
