What it is

Hi-Fi Rush is a bright, cel-shaded rhythm-action game where you play Chai, a wannabe rock star whose body accidentally syncs to music after a botched cybernetic surgery. He fights his way through the divisions of an evil tech company using a makeshift guitar, and combat, platforming, and puzzles all pulse to the beat of a licensed rock soundtrack. The action is cartoonish and bloodless — enemies are mostly robots that break apart into scrap when defeated. Content stays light: comedic dialogue with some mild swearing, a bit of flirty and suggestive humor between characters, and a lightly-handled story about a greedy corporation hunting the hero. There are no microtransactions, no gambling, and no online or multiplayer features — it is entirely single-player.

How it's framed

The game frames its combat as heroic, comic underdog action against a cartoonishly corrupt corporation, keeping violence stylized and consequence-free; its tone is upbeat and self-aware rather than dark, and it never dwells on injury, death, or mature subject matter.
