What it is

Astroneer is a peaceful third-person space-exploration and crafting sandbox where you colonize procedurally generated planets, reshape terrain with a handheld Terrain Tool, gather resources, build bases, and automate production while uncovering the mystery of alien Gateway structures. The tone is calm and non-violent: there is no human combat, no gore, and no strong language in the game itself. The main hazards are suffocation when oxygen runs out, fall damage, and a few hostile plants that can be destroyed with your tool. It supports drop-in cooperative play with friends, and optional cosmetic add-ons are available.

How it's framed

The game frames its content around creativity, exploration, and cooperative problem-solving rather than conflict; challenge comes from survival logistics (oxygen, power, resource chains) and environmental danger, not from harming characters.
