Extra kitchens, chefs and level packs are sold as paid downloadable add-ons bought with real money. There is no in-game currency, no loot boxes and no randomized purchases.
In Overcooked! 2, as many as four people team up to prepare meals at a hectic pace, either sharing a couch on one console or connecting over the internet. Their chefs dash through colorful, cartoon-style kitchens to slice up ingredients, prepare recipes, serve completed orders, and scrub dishes before time runs out, all while each stage introduces hazards such as platforms that shift position, belts that carry items along, and portals. A brief narrative hook has the cooks travel through the Onion Kingdom to halt reanimated loaves known as the 'Unbread,' yet nothing involves fighting, gore, or grown-up themes — difficulty comes from staying in sync and managing time while rushed. One point worth noting is that online pairing may match participants with people they don't know, and the title includes both spoken and typed chat.
Everything here is presented through the lens of silly, frantic collaboration. The sole source of tension is the innocent, cartoonish idea of preparing food to overcome living food characters; nothing shows anyone being hurt, and no in-game payoff is connected to any actual misconduct.
