What it is

Sanctum 2 is a cooperative first-person shooter blended with tower defense, set on a distant sci-fi colony world. Playing as one of four soldier characters, you build maze-like towers and defensive structures, then personally grab a gun and shoot waves of oddly-shaped alien creatures before they reach and destroy energy Cores you must protect. The visuals are bright and cel-shaded, and the combat targets fictional monsters rather than people, with no blood or gore shown. There is no sexual content, substance use, or gambling. It can be played solo or online with up to four players, which brings voice and text chat with others.

How it's framed

The game frames its combat as defensive squad warfare against an invading alien species threatening a human colony's survival. The tone is action-focused and light, presenting the creatures as impersonal enemy waves; a background story touches on corporate power and a father killed in earlier fighting, but the plot stays in the background and is not dwelt on.
