Stylized, bloodless combat against hostile farming robots using tools and 'spud guns'; enemies are machines that break apart rather than bleed.
Survival mode includes wildlife creatures that can be fought and hunted for resources and food as an ordinary gameplay mechanic; no gore.
Scrap Mechanic is a physics-based building sandbox where players engineer vehicles, machines, and contraptions from modular parts. In creative mode there are no threats at all, while the survival mode strands a robot-maintenance mechanic on a farming planet where the automated Farmbots have turned hostile. Combat is light and cartoonish: you fight blocky robots with melee tools, potato-launching 'spud guns', and your own custom war machines, and the robots simply fall apart into salvageable scrap with no blood, gore, or human injury. Survival play adds scavenging, farming, cooking, and wildlife you can hunt for food. The game supports online co-op and creation-sharing through the Steam Workshop, and it contains no purchasable currency, gambling, sexual content, or strong language.
The game frames its action as playful engineering and survival problem-solving; enemies are clearly mechanical robots rather than people, defeating them is treated as clearing obstacles and gathering loot, and the tone throughout is lighthearted and construction-focused.
