What it is

Sniper Elite 5 is a third-person WWII tactical shooter in which the player controls an OSS sniper operating behind enemy lines in 1944 France to stop a Nazi plot. Gameplay centers on stealth, long-range and close-quarters gunfire against human soldiers, and the series' trademark kill cam that follows a bullet in slow motion and shows an X-ray view of the damage it does inside the target's body, including shattered bones and ruptured organs. Combat is bloody and can be gruesomely detailed, and the wartime story deals with the violence and stakes of the conflict. It supports online co-op and competitive multiplayer with voice and text chat, and sells optional DLC and cosmetic content.

How it's framed

The game frames its violence as heroic wartime soldiering against Nazi forces, presenting kills as skillful objectives and celebrating precise, lethal shots through its detailed kill-cam spectacle rather than dwelling on the suffering of the enemy.
