The player is a convict sent to a hostile world; the backstory covers the death of an ancient civilization and the skeletal remains of earlier settlers who died are scattered across the map, but nothing is shown graphically.
The Planet Crafter is a first-person space survival and crafting game in which you play a lone convict dropped onto a barren, lifeless planet and tasked with terraforming it into a world that can support life. Play centers on gathering resources, building bases, and constructing machines that raise oxygen, heat, and pressure until plants, then animals, gradually appear. There is no combat and no enemies to fight; the main survival pressure is managing your own oxygen, thirst, and hunger while exploring. Its heaviest material is atmospheric: your character is a prisoner, the ruins of a vanished civilization and the remains of earlier settlers who died here dot the landscape, and messages hint at a catastrophe that wiped out the planet's original inhabitants. It can be played solo or in co-op with a small group. There are no in-app purchases.
The game frames its world through exploration and quiet progress rather than conflict, presenting death and a ruined civilization as environmental storytelling — logs, scattered remains, and transmissions — that give weight to an otherwise calm, constructive loop centered on rebuilding a dead world into a living one.
