What it is
Raft is a survival and building game where you start on a tiny wooden raft adrift in an endless flooded ocean and gradually expand it into a large floating base. You hook floating debris to gather materials, manage hunger and thirst, craft tools, and fend off the sharks that constantly circle and bite at your raft. Progressing the story leads you to explore a series of abandoned islands and structures, solving light puzzles and uncovering a narrative about survivors held captive by a corrupt general. Combat is stylized and low on blood, aimed mostly at sharks and island wildlife. It can be played solo or online in co-op with others, with in-game voice chat available.
How it's framed
The game frames its combat as defensive survival — fighting off sharks and hunting animals to eat and protect your raft rather than for cruelty. Its darker backdrop of a drowned world and imprisoned survivors is delivered through environmental storytelling and notes, treated as a hopeful rebuilding-and-rescue arc rather than dwelt on graphically.
