What it is

Prey is a 2006 first-person shooter in which you play Tommy, a Cherokee man abducted with his girlfriend and grandfather aboard a giant living alien ship that harvests humans and matter from Earth. Armed with alien weapons and, later, spirit powers that let his soul roam and revive him after death, Tommy fights the ship's creatures through gravity-bending, portal-laden environments. Expect frequent bloody combat, grotesque imagery of mutilated and harvested human bodies, strong language, an opening bar scene with drinking and playable casino machines, and a dark, at times frightening tone.

How it's framed

The game frames Tommy as a reluctant hero fighting to save his loved ones and humanity, drawing on his Cherokee spiritual heritage as a source of strength; the abduction, harvesting, and killing of humans are presented as horrific acts of a monstrous enemy the player resists rather than something rewarded.
